Awards & Recognition
In Scouting, an award is presented for a significant accomplishment. Scouts are encouraged to set overarching goals, work to achieve them, and then accept awards as a recognition for their efforts. In the Scouting spirit, the ability to qualify for an award itself should not be the primary emphasis for completing a task or project.
Many awards require a member of the community to nominate a prospective deserving recipient. Once the nomination is completed and approved, as defined by the individual award’s approval process, the award can be formally presented to the recipient. In most cases, awards are presented without the recipients’ request or participation in the nomination process.
