Scouting for Food 2023

Council-Wide Food Drive March 1 –  April 30

No one should have to go hungry in the richest country in the world — yet millions of Americans don’t have enough to eat. Long Island’s children, seniors, veterans, and active U.S. service members should never have to worry where their next meal will come from.
Through March and April, Theodore Roosevelt Council is again partnering with Island Harvest to collect food for Long Island families in need. Last year, Scouts & families collected more than 15 tons of food to help fight hunger in our communities.

We continue to partner with Island Harvest who can collect your donation. You can drop your Unit’s donation at either 875 Jerusalem Ave, Uniondale, NY 11553 or 126 Spagnoli Road, Melville, NY 11747. For hours, please call Shannon Karafian 631-873-4775 ext. 208.

You may also make your donation at a local pantry of your choosing. To locate a pantry in your area, you can text your zip code to 631-450-3775 and Island Harvest will text you the locations of pantries nearest you.

Other Great Locations for Donations:

Westbury House: a 105-year-old charity helping people in Nassau. Your donations can be dropped at 334 Winthrop Street, Westbury any weekday between 10 and noon. This charity also collects clothing, housewares, school supplies, and toys. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out by phone: 516-333-0207.

Hispanic Brotherhood of RVC:  a not-for-profit organization, established in 1984 by a small group of Hispanic residents in order to assist the fast growing population of immigrants from different Spanish language cultures.  Food services are provided to local families in need. Food Donations can be dropped off at 59 Clinton Ave, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.

Also, please remember, while this Scouting for Food campaign runs from March through April, you can report food donated at any time in the coming months towards the Council Scouting for Food total.
